You may notice that none of these numbers are absolute. Services set their own thresholds. Some use dynamic confirmations: fewer for small swaps, more for large ones. Others rely on probabilistic finality, meaning they release funds after a certain number of confirmations even though the chance of reversal is not zero.
The key point is that the swap cannot complete until both sides have enough confirmations. If you send Bitcoin to the exchanger, it waits for 3 Bitcoin confirmations. Only then does it send the equivalent amount on the destination chain. That second transaction then needs its own confirmations on that chain before it reaches your wallet.
This waiting period is inherent to the security model of each blockchain. You cannot speed it up without accepting more risk. Some services offer "instant" swaps by fronting the funds and taking the risk themselves, but that is a different product.
